Bellfield Re-Opens 23rd June

After much hard work to get Bellfield ready to re-open for community use, Action Porty is thrilled to announce an opening date for Bellfield of 23rd June, 2018.

We’re now busy planning a celebratory opening event which will include family-friendly activities, food, music, and dancing during the afternoon and a cabaret in the evening. Further details will be announced soon.

In the meantime, if you’d like to perform at the opening or help with organising please email shauna@actionporty.com

Thank you for helping us make sure this vital community asset remains available to our community.

Community-led design in the Scotsman

Ahead of our drop-in community design event this weekend, the Chair of Action Porty, Justin Kenrick,  has outlined some of the issues surrounding the development of the Pitz/Tumbles site in the Scotsman newspaper. You can read the article here.

We hope local residents will join us at Portobello town hall on Saturday as we all work to try to turn a threat into an opportunity. Find out more about the event on our dedicated Westbank/Pitz page here

Portobello Love Stories

The hall at Bellfield came alive again recently with an inter-generational event, Portobello Love Stories. Organised by Tribe Porty Youth Theatre, Action Porty and Portobello Heritage Trust, it was a lovely afternoon of memory sharing between Portobello Older People’s Project participants and members of the youth theatre. We learnt plenty from this pilot event which will help us when we open fully in June. Thanks to our singer Sarah Laing and everyone who volunteered on the day.
